FAQ

  • Q: Which method of delivery should I use?

    A. We recommend experimenting with different delivery methods and using them in conjunction with each other for maximum effects.

A basic regimen for overall well-being includes a daily dose either vaporized or taken in capsules. This base dose can then be supplemented with other products on days when pain or anxiety are worse than “normal”.

CBD products are available in a variety of types, so you can select the method that you feel most comfortable with. The delivery methods that MMIP offers include oral tinctures, medibles, vape oils/e-juices, topical oils and transdermal patches. Most product descriptions include the types of pain they are recommended for. If you would like additional help determining what is best for your specific condition, feel free to contact us.

  • Q: Does the delivery method used have an impact on the desired outcome or benefits?

A: Yes, the delivery methods used can have varied results and are typically used for targeting different desired outcomes.

    • Orally: When administering orally, CBD effects are aimed more at the immune system.
      • Medibles: Ingested as food or beverage, some of the CBD is lost in the digestive process, so higher doses are recommended. The effects are slower onset and longer lasting. We recommend “medibles” as a supplement to any CBD regimen to improve the efficiency of your primary CBD source, and to add extra relief as needed.
      • Sublingually (under the tongue): Liquids placed under the tongue enter the bloodstream directly so are faster acting. More of the CBD is absorbed this way, so smaller doses can be more effective.
      • Inhaling: When inhaled, generally with a vaporizer, CBD primarily affects the nervous system. This method is recommended if your primary intent is to ease physical pain, seizures, or tremors. The maximum effectiveness temperature range for vaporizing is between 180ºC and 210ºC.
    • Topically: These products’ general effects are on the area where they are applied.
    • Transdermally: This innovative administration of CBD is easy to use and takes most of the guess work out of dosing. The CBD formula is in the form of a patch that, when applied to the skin, allows the medicine to be absorbed into the blood stream.
  • Q: Does Maine Maine Infused Products have retail Locations?

A: No, but we have plan on having a retail store opening soon, in Central/Southern Maine.

  • Q: Do you have any specific dosage recommendations for someone just starting out with CBD products?

A: We find that most patients get the benefit they are looking for with a dose of 10 to 60 milligrams per day.

  • Q: Are there any potential interactions when using CBD products with prescribed medicines?

A: As with any supplement, you should talk to your doctor BEFORE adding CBD to your regimen. You should make sure you are taking the most therapeutic dose of your medications, because possible, though rare, interactions may affect the level of drugs in your bloodstream. So you may need a dosage adjustment in order to maximize the safety and efficacy of your regimen.

  • Q: How long does it typically take to experience effects from using CBD products?

A: Using CBD products typically has a cumulative effect. If you are not already using CBD supplements, it usually takes about 2 weeks to experience the maximum effect, although some benefits can be felt immediately.

  • Q: How are the CBD products different from marijuana?

A: CBD is a chemical compound that can be extracted from the cannabis plant, but it does not contain concentrated amounts of THC, the compound that produces a “high” affect. The CBD products are derived from industrial hemp not marijuana.

  • Q: Aren’t marijuana and hemp the same thing?

A: No. Both are in the plant genus “cannabis,” however, the word “hemp” is used to describe a Cannabis plant that contains only trace amounts of THC. Hemp is a high-growing plant, typically bred for industrial uses such as oils and topical ointments, as well as fiber for clothing, construction, and much more. Only products made from industrial hemp (containing less than 0.3% THC) are legal to sell, buy, consume, and ship.

The word “marijuana” is used when describing a Cannabis plant that is often bred for its potent tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content. THC is the chemical compound most known for its psychoactive, or getting “high” properties. THC level is how most people distinguish between what is classified as “hemp” and what is classified as “marijuana.”

This important distinction has lead to much controversy and confusion about which term should be used and what is means.

  • Reduced my need for oxycontin

I have a spinal cord injury, and have been on high doses of oxycontin for years. Last year I was diagnosed with cancer, and added cannabis to my pain management. Since I started using a CBD tincture, I have noticed I don't need to take the oxycontin as frequently. Randy - Lewiston
